COURSE SUMMARY: Cannabidiol, or CBD, is produced from hemp, or the cannabis sativa plant. CBD is legal in the United States as it does not contain THC the psychoactive component of cannabis. In recent years, CBD has been used increasingly in OTC products including oral care for it's antimicrobial properties, combat pain, inflammation, and anxiety. In this webinar we will discuss the implications and potentials of CBD use in dentistry to improve patient outcomes.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER(S):
Dr. Kirsten Roling, DDS: Chief Education Officer, Dental CE Academy; is the Chief Education Officer for Dental CE Academy. She completed dental school training at the University of California, San Francisco; during the height of the HIV/AIDS Pandemic. She is credited as an early pioneer of Teledentistry. Her clinical practice spans pediatrics to geriatrics, private sector and public health dentistry, rural and urban settings. Previously an Assistant Clinical Professor, UCSF; and Public Health Preceptor, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, AT Still University; Dr. Roling also held the position as Chief for the Office of Oral Health, Maricopa County, Department of Public Health where she administered the nation's largest pediatric oral health preventions programs for the nation's third largest public health department. As a mobile dental provider, she commanded a large teledentistry practice to treat homebound geriatric patients. She is a recipient of the Pediatric Oral Health Access Program (POHAP) scholarship and provided pro bono dental services to at risk infants and foster children. She has completed advanced education certification through the American Dental Education Association in conjunction with the Academy of Academic Leadership and Institute for Allied Health Educators. In 2018 she was published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, and in 2019 interviewed by National Public Radio. Dr Roling was the co-producer and co-host of a nationally syndicated radio show "Healthy Senior Living, and her passion to address oral health access for underserved populations was featured in the Arizona Dental Association Journal "Inscriptions".
