COURSE SUMMARY:

In today's world, the unfortunate reality is that acts of violence, including active shooter incidents, can occur in any setting, including healthcare facilities such as dental practices. Dentists and their staff are responsible not only for providing quality dental care but also for ensuring the safety and well-being of their patients and themselves. Therefore, it's crucial for dental professionals to be prepared to respond effectively in the event of an active shooter situation.

This Continuing Education training is designed to equip dental professionals with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to mitigate the risks associated with an active shooter incident and to respond appropriately to protect themselves, their patients, and their colleagues.

By completing this CE course, dentists and their staff will be better prepared to prevent, respond to, and recover from an active shooter incident in their dental practice. Investing in active shooter training not only enhances the safety and security of the practice but also demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of patients and staff.

Key topics covered in this course include:

  1. Recognize the warning signs of potential violence to end it before it begins

  2. The proper Survival Mindset and concept of being Proactively Reactionary

  3. To have confidence in knowing how to respond appropriately to an active shooter and defeat the instinct to freeze

  4. What steps to take to survive based on the situation

  5. Empowerment to take those steps rather than believing you are going to die

  6. To be ferociously determined to go home to your family at the end of the day by doing whatever it takes, instead of resigning yourself to never seeing your loved ones again

  7. And if you are responsible for others— as an employer, manager, teacher or caretaker— you'll learn how to help everyone survive!
