COURSE SUMMARY:

Kirsten Roling, DDS: This course is specifically designed for dental clinicians seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in infection control. Infection Control vulnerabilities in the dental practice will be presented with a focus on Aerosol, Vacuum Lines, Surface Disinfection, Water Lines, Hand Hygiene, PPE, and Handpieces.  The latest strategies to implement evidence-based solutions will be offered.  Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or a recent graduate, this course offers valuable insights and practical techniques to elevate your practice's infection control standards.

Amanda Hill, BSDH, RDH CDIPC: Will present waterline and suction line strategies: There are lines coming in and out of our operatories, but do we understand how to care for them for maximum efficiency, effectiveness, and safety? Dental Unit Waterlines (DUWLs) are in the news and on inspection checklists. Science shows us that many of the aerosols we are producing come directly from the DUWLs. And our suction lines are getting a workout like never before, helping us to control the aerosols to keep us safe. In this dynamic presentation, attendees will learn the why, how, and what of dental water and suction lines. This course will turn you into a Line Leader where you can head back into your op and Know Your Lines!!!

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Describe infection control vulnerabilities that exist in the dental practice

  • Apply the latest evidence-based infection control practices and guidelines

  • Identify outdated, ineffective and unsafe infection control systems in the dental practices

  • Explore practical strategies and technologies to implement these evidence-based practices efficiently and effectively

  • Foster an environment where every team member is committed to upholding the highest standards of infection control, thereby promoting a safe and welcoming experience for patients

  • Describe the importance of clean dental unit waterlines

  • Define the steps needed to "pass the waterline test" --shock, test, treat, maintain

  • Identify the difference between Water and Suction lines

  • Explain the science of good suction and recognize how to improve it

  • Formulate an effective protocol to maximize your suction lines
